Dormaahene Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu has called on the traditional leadership of Bawku to embrace peace and reconciliation to bring an end to the escalating tension in the area. According to him, the disturbances in the area are of great concern to him due to his ties with Bawku.
He made the call during the official launch of the 23rd Anniversary of his ascension to the Dormaa Stool. Lawrence Manu-Gyan reports that it was all pomp and pageantry at Abampraduase as the official launch of the 23rd Anniversary of the enstoolment of Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Aang Badu took place.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries including government officials, traditional authorities from the Bono Region, heads of private and governmental institutions and the people of Dormaa.
It served as a curtain-raiser for a number of activities lined up for the celebration for a successful 23-year reign of Osafogyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu as the overlord of Dormaa.
Addressing the ceremony, the Dormaahene expressed gratitude to the Dormaa Traditional Council and the People for the trust reposed in him as their leader.
He shut down the perception that he is partisan, explaining that he rather supports any Governmemt which is all about development as it aligns with his beliefs
On the Bawku conflict, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu called for calm in the area.
For her part, the Bono Regional Minister Justina Owusu Bannahene called on Traditional Authorities across the country to lead in creating awareness on “the creeping threat of terrorism”.
As part of the launch of the 23rd Anniversary of his enstoolment, the Dormaahene presented sewing machines to the Ghana National Association of Tailors and Dressmakers in Dormaa for the training of underprivileged apprentices.
Sod was also cut for the construction of a new residential facility at Abrampeduase, the Palace of the Dormaa Traditional Area.
