The campaign to constantly wash your hands with soap under running water in the wake of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak has made the veronica buckets very popular in Ghana.
The Veronica Bucket which has become one commodity on a very high demand is a plastic container with a tap attached to it. This enables one to thoroughly wash the hands under running water.
The bucket is named after Madam Veronica Bekoe who invented it.
Veronica Bekoe graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and worked with a medical laboratory and was a head of the National Public Reference Laboratory in Accra.
It was during her time at the laboratory that she invented the veronica bucket.
