March is popular for the celebration of the heritage month because that is when Ghana gained independence, for that matter Ghanaians all over the world displayed the rich culture Ghana has. GTV, the nation’s broadcaster, celebrated the heritage month in a grand style from the beginning of March and climaxed it on the 31st of March, 2022.
The presenters were dressed first of all to represent their various regions and they all explained to the public the reason they are dressed that way. On other days, they dressed to represent all the 16 regions of Ghana and their ethnic groups, proverbs were said in different languages and translated into English.
The guests were not left out as they also displayed their cultural fashion sense on the different days that they joined the show. There were some cultural displays of different dances to represent the various regions as well.
Different types of food like apranpransa, ofam and wasasa were prepared to mark the heritage month. At the climax of the heritage month, tuo zaafi was prepared and the team and everyone got to know that tuo means “stir” whiles zaafi means “hot” and is a delicacy for the people from the Northern part of Ghana, interestingly Tuo Zaafi has become a well-patronized meal across Ghana.
We will come again hopefully next year to bring you another educative and entertaining heritage month. The GTV Breakfast Show airs on weekdays, Monday- Friday from 5:55 am to 10:00 am on one of GBC’s platforms GTV. You can also join the live stream on Facebook @Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
