The National Celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day Anniversary was usually marked in the capital, Accra. This was however changed in 2019 by the Nana Akufo Addo government, to rotate the national celebration of the event to afford the regions the opportunity to enjoy among other things the economic benefits that came with the celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day Anniversary.

A cross-section of the public shared their opinions on the rotation of the Independence Anniversary celebration. While some are of the view that it gives people the opportunity to embark on domestic tourism, others say it is a waste of resources.

”It has liberated us from colonial rule, it has helped to become who we were, and it is good that it is taking place in other regions so that everyone will know how the independence day is celebrated”.

”It is taking place on the Cape coast, last year, it was taken to another region”.

”It tells how the country has matured since we had our freedom. We have been celebrating it every time to tell the story and that is very important”.
”For independence day celebration I know it is the time Ghana celebrates the independence day since 1957”.
”For now I don’t really know where it’s going to be held this year”.

”It is history and we use this to demonstrate and remember the Independence Ghana gained since 1957. It is something that we need to celebrate, every year on the 6th of March.”

”This one will be the 65th birthday of Ghana I can’t really pinpoint but, they just want people to know that Ghana is the Homeland and they are proud to be Ghanaians and they are even proud to get the independence, but, if you look at a different angle, for me, I don’t see any benefit of celebrating our independence because we are still at where we are since those days”.
