Today marks exactly seven years since Ghana experienced one of its major tragic events which claimed more than 150 lives. The tragedy came after several hours of heavy rainfall in Accra.
During the downpour, a fuel leakage at Kwame Nkrumah Circle caught fire resulting in an explosion alongside the flood. This led to more than 150 deaths with hundreds of people suffering severe burns.
The floods were attributed to blockages in Accra’s main storm drains.
Seven years on, the country still experiences floods after minutes of heavy rainfall due to blockages in storm drains.
Last month heavy rains which resulted in floods destroyed properties slowed down businesses and claimed lives.
