A Community Police Post erected at Mamobi by the Ayawaso North District Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has been left unused for more than a year now. The idea of putting up the police post was to maintain peace and security in the area.
The recent clash between two gangs at Nima and Mamobi on the 18th of January 2022, raised issues about the security situation in the Community.
The Assemblyman for Alidu Electoral Area Alhaji Ismail Fuseini, in an interview with GBC News said the Police Post was erected to prevent disturbance taking into consideration the crowded nature of the Community and its attendant volatility. According to him, the Police Post has not been abandoned, but rather they are waiting for the District Police Command to furnish the premises before it can be fully operational.
He said since the clash last week, ”the Police have been in the Community to ensure law and order”.
Alhaji Fuseini said the incident, ”though unfortunate, will help fast track the completion of the Police Post”.
He advised the youth to ”eschew violence and report those who flout the laws of the country”.
”Channel your energies into profitable ventures to improve your living standards”, Alhaji Fuseini noted.
