Ahmed Suale’s murder: Police invite A-Plus to assist with investigations

The Ghana Police Service has  today, 15th July 2024, invited Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as (A-Plus) to assist Police ongoing investigation into the death of Ahmed Suale, following his recent claims on social media that he has some information regarding the case.

The Cold Case Unit established in October 2021, under the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to handle cases of this nature has been working on the investigation into the case and closely engaging with the deceased’s family.

The Police say they are ”therefore pleased that Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus) has made indications that he has some information that could assist the ongoing investigation, and he has been invited accordingly”.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale was a Ghanaian undercover investigative journalist and an associate of fellow Ghanaian investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. He died on Wednesday, 16 January 2019 when unidentified men on motorbikes shot him three times, twice in the chest and once in his neck in his vehicle.

There have been multiple calls for the Police to conclude the case which has received international attention and also dented Ghana’s image by way of Press Freedom Index on Rankings by the Reporters Without Borders.

Recently, the issue of finding the closure/killers of Ahmed Suale came up at the Ghana Journalists Association, (GJA’s)75th Anniversary Public Lectures Series at Ho in the Volta Region.
