Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer at Methodist University College Ghana, Professor Daniel Bruce, has clapped back at Senior Presidential Adviser, Yaw Osafo Marfo over his comment on the rise in the country’s corruption index.
According to the clinical psychologist, Mr. Marfo’s statement is a fallacy of appeal to authority.
The Senior Presidential Adviser was sited in a publication by Starfm.com questioning the role of Christian leaders in curbing corruption in the country.
“If there is that much decay in our body politics, then the Christian community has a role to play. 70% of the population is a Christian. So what kind of message do we continuously give to the people in the country. What kind of moral lesson are we able to put through to the people”, Mr. Marfo stated according to the site.
Prof. Bruce, however, opined that there should be systems in place that will prevent people from engaging in corruption-related activities.
He also argued that Christianity does not give people immunity from corruption.
“All Christians, including me cannot avoid the greatest temptation of the presence of money. So that part in the ten commandments, thou shall not steal, we don’t like it”, he added.
