The Appiatse Support Fund Committee (ASF) paid a courtesy call on the of Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, to update him on the progress of the Appiatse Reconstruction Scheme and formally conclude their mandate.
Led by Dr. Joyce Aryee, former CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, the committee provided a comprehensive briefing on the funds received and disbursed for rebuilding the community devastated by the tragic explosion in January 2022.
“The incident caused immense loss of life and property, and displaced many residents. Our committee was established to mobilize support from Ghanaians, corporate entities, and international partners to reconstruct Appiatse into a modern, green, and sustainable community,” Dr. Aryee explained.
She highlighted the Committee’s commitment to transparency, noting, “All funds were disbursed through bank transactions, ensuring accountability. We successfully completed Phase 1, constructing 124 housing units commissioned in May 2024, and are progressing with remodelling damaged homes and planning an additional 69 units.”
The Minister, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah praised the committee’s work, saying, “Your dedication has restored hope to the people of Appiatse. I pledge my full support as we continue to empower the community, with particular focus on women’s livelihoods.”



He also announced plans for a working visit to engage stakeholders and outline further interventions.
The ASF Committee expressed appreciation for the Minister’s warm reception and reaffirmed their commitment to rebuilding Appiatse as a thriving, sustainable community.
Dr. Aryee concluded, “We are honored to have served and remain committed to the vision of a resilient Appiatse.”
