A Professor in Public Health at the School of Health and Allied Sciences, Prof. Francis Zotor has challenged Ghanaians to add their voices to the calls on government to ban the importation of some foreign food products and vegetables.
Prof. Zotor said Africa, for that matter Ghana, is blessed with natural resources and has what it takes to be self-sufficient if local foods are well improved and managed.
Therefore, there is the need to take advantage of the rich natural local resources which are healthier than the foreign ones.
Prof. Zotor said this at a Webinar by the Ghana Science Association to address the issue of diet and health care delivery in the midst of the global covid-19 pandemic. He reiterated the need for government to make efforts to adopt food-based dietary guidelines to help boost nutrition.
