An Ultra-modern Central East Regional Police has been commissioned in the Awutu Senya East Constituency to help the Police effectively fight crime in the area.

The facility which was built by the MP for the area and Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson with support from other benevolent individuals is expected to serve adjoining communities in the area.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia who commissioned the edifice as part of his tour in the Constituency reiterated government’s commitment to resource the police service. Recounting the immense contributions of the Ghana Police Service to fostering peace in the country, Dr Bawumia called for more sacrifices from personnel of the Service. He also applauded the MP for the gesture.

“It’s taking let’s than two years to complete this building. I want to thank the MP for the area for this police station. She has done so much and this building will contribute to the control and enforcement of law in Awutu-Senya East. As a government we have invested a lot in the police service more than any government in the Fourth Republic. We bought more vehicles,  more uniforms and three helicopters for the service and we have increased the police size by forty percent. 

Going forward, we want to purchase 50,000 CTV cameras to be fixed across every streets in every region, capitals and districts across the country, Dr Bawumia added.

The MP for Awutu Senya East and Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson in a remark expressed the hope that crime in the area will reduce drastically. 

“There is nothing impossible if you set your mind to do it. This project was huge but by the grace of God, it has been completed. We are going to protect lives and property”

On his part, the Central East Regional Police Command, DCOP Owusu Bempahexpressed gratitude for the new edifice, stressing that the police will no longer refer cases to the Winneba Regional Police Station. He pledged the commitment of the police to properly maintain the facility. 

The Police station has a waiting room, a charge office, twenty-two rooms and two Conference rooms among others.
