The Member of Parliament and former Information Minister, Dan Kwaku Botwe, has officially handed over keys to a 5-bedroom building with an office to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

The building is a fulfilment of a pledge the Botwe, on behalf of his siblings, made to the Church in 2021 as a gift and memorabilia for the 100th anniversary of the Mabang Presby District in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of Ashanti.

The Manse, which is a replacement for the more than 66-year old Mission House is a befitting commemoration for the Church which has now been elevated to a District status within the Brong Ahafo Presbytery of the Church.

It cost Mr. Botwe and his siblings thousands of Ghana Cedis from proceeds from their different agric projects in three years to complete the building for use as the Manse and an office for the Mabang District Minister.

Mr. Botwe explained that, the charity is in appreciation of their Presbyterian discipline upbringing by his late father then popularly called Master Darko, a teacher who once served as a Head teacher at Mabang. It was during his more than 13-year duty tour of Mabang that Mr. Botwe and two others of his siblings were born and raised using the Presbyterian discipline.

“The joy of giving also comes from within. I believe so much about what the bible teaches us.”

“Just to also inspire many people… if there is any lesson at all, we should remember, one of them, we should remember where we came from if it’s possible to give back to society”, he said.

In addition to the Mission House, Mr. Botwe and his siblings presented a cheque of 50 thousand Ghana Cedis to the Mabang Presby Church towards expansion of the current temple and also promised to lead a funds raising campaign to mobilize the required finances for completion of the entire church project.

Mr. Botwe has already used his influence to build a three-classroom block for the local Presby basic school.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, Ghana, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, while expressing the church’s gratitude to Mr. Botwe and his siblings for the benevolence, described the gesture as a legacy on behalf of the late Presbyterian Headmaster, Master Darko.

He urged Ghanaians including the leaders to always think of what is good and in the interest of greater majority of the people.

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Nana Kwakye described the quality of the new Manse as befitting the status of s District Minister of the Presby Church even as an envy of the highest office holder of the Church and therefore entreated the Mabang Church and the occupants to ensure regular maintenance of the House by refraining from the Ghanaian attitude towards maintenance.

The Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, Nana Eric Agyemang Prempeh, after donating 20 thousand Ghana Cedis cash also towards the church building project, pledged to support the Mabang Presby District with a new Motorbike to support its pastoral mission work.

The Church, in turn, presented a citation to Mr. Dan Botwe in appreciation of his contribution to the growth of the Presbyterian church.
