A devastating fire broke out early this morning at the Adum Railways trading hub, located at a popular spot known as “Blue Gate.” The blaze began around 5:30 a.m., and the cause is still unknown.

The bustling Railways trading area, known for its dense collection of second-hand goods such as clothing, footwear, bags, and locally made shoes, quickly became the scene of a fierce fire that spread at an alarming rate. The area, already notorious for its congestion, saw the fire tear through several buildings, including the Despite building, which houses Hello FM, a subsidiary of Despite Media.

As flames rapidly spread, the Fire Service faced a significant challenge in controlling the blaze. Five fire tenders and personnel were dispatched to the scene, yet the intensity of the fire continued to escalate. Despite their efforts, the fire remained relentless, consuming large portions of the busy trading zone.

In the midst of the chaos, staff from Hello FM were quickly evacuated to safety as the fire approached the radio station’s premises. The station has temporarily suspended its operations due to the ongoing threat posed by the blaze.

Meanwhile, store operators in nearby buildings were seen ignoring the dangers to salvage their goods, risking their own safety in a desperate attempt to protect their livelihoods. The situation remains tense as emergency crews work tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent further damage.

Authorities have yet to establish the cause of the fire, but investigations are expected to begin once the blaze is under control. For now, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of residents and preventing the fire from spreading further in the already congested area.
