As Father’s Day approaches on Sunday, June 16, 2024, the Frimpong-Manso Institute (FMI) has issued a fervent call to honor and uphold the dignity of fatherhood. The institute stresses that neglecting this responsibility could be detrimental to civilization.

“Neglecting to uphold the dignity of fatherhood could be detrimental to any civilization,” the FMI stated in a recent press release. The institute emphasizes the vital roles fathers play at various levels—within families, faith and secular organizations, communities, nation-states, and on the global stage.

The FMI laments that Father’s Day has not been celebrated with the “gravitas, enthusiasm, and euphoria that should ideally characterize such a sacred occasion.”

Despite some men neglecting their fatherly responsibilities, the institute maintains that this behavior should not diminish the importance of honoring fatherhood. “We do not endorse the irresponsible actions of these individuals,” the release asserted. “Fathers have always played a sacred role, from biblical times through history to the present modern era.”

The Institute warns that failing to honor fatherhood risks losing the blessings and guidance that fathers provide. This oversight, according to FMI, could undermine socio-cultural, moral, and ethical values, as well as economic and social transformation.

“The cost of neglecting this duty far outweighs the consequences of maintaining the status quo,” the press release cautions.

On this year’s Father’s Day, the Frimpong-Manso Institute salutes the “leadership role and tireless efforts of all gallant fathers,” while urging those who have abandoned their fatherly roles to “resolve to act differently.”

As society prepares to celebrate Father’s Day, FMI’s call serves as a poignant reminder of the crucial role fathers play and the enduring impact of honoring and supporting fatherhood.
