Campaigning for Ghana’s 2024 elections has intensified, with presidential candidates officially filing their nominations. The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the leading opposition party, has expressed concerns over the credibility of the voters’ register and has organized nationwide protests at Electoral Commission (EC) offices to demand reforms. These actions highlight the party’s dissatisfaction with aspects of the election process.
The Frimpong Manso Institute has supported the NDC’s right to protest and raise legitimate concerns, urging the EC to engage with the party and address their grievances. At the same time, the Institute has appealed to the NDC to ensure their protests remain peaceful and within legal boundaries, cautioning against actions that might escalate tensions during this critical period.
The Institute emphasized the need for trust and dialogue between the EC and political parties to safeguard the integrity of the elections.
It warned that any disruptions or mistakes in the election process could lead to significant national challenges, underscoring the importance of maintaining peace and ensuring that the election results are credible and accepted by all sides.
