President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Albert Dwumfour, has urged the nine-member Committee tasked with selecting stories for the 28th GJA awards to review nominations and select winners based on merit, accuracy, and impact.
He also emphasised the critical role of the media before, during and after the election. He cautioned the media to avoid sensationalism and bias in the dissemination of information. This year’s awards will recognise excellence in Journalism and celebrate journalists, who have proven their worth in the year under review.
The theme for the 28th GJA awards is “75 years of excellence in Journalism, the role of the media in Democratic Governance and elections”.
General Secretary of the GJA, Kofi Yeboah, highlighted the role of the Committee members and what they will look out for in selecting winners.
The Chairman of the Committee, who doubles as the Chief Editor for Ghana News Agency, George-Ramsey Benamba, on behalf of the members, thanked the GJA for the opportunity to carry out the special duty.
The award ceremony will be held on 28th of September 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre and will climax the GJA’s 75th Anniversary and crown the PAV. Ansah Journalist of the Year under review.
