Joining the world for a Remembrance Service to honor and appreciate the sacrifice of all firefighters at the National Headquarters in Accra, the Chief Fire Officer Julius Kuunor says steps are being taken to ensure that the wellbeing of personnel in the service are taken care of.
The remembrance Service was not to remember family members of their pain but also to comfort them. The day was also to honor all firefighters for their contributions as they continue with the good work of saving lives and property.
Preaching the sermon, the Chaplin D0 II Erzoah Amihere said the fallen heroes did die a selfless death while trying to save the lives and property of unknown people.
He charged his fellow officers to continue to sacrifice their lives and stand for their rights because their good works will be remembered.
The Chief Fire Office, CFO Julius Kuunour said it is time for the public to appreciate the risk firefighters face in line of duty. He touched on the safety of all firefighters.
he Executive Director of GLICO Group, Mr. Stephen Badu promised Glico will collaborate with GNFS to continue to intensify fire safety education to help reduce fires in the country.
Appreciating the sacrifices of all firefighters for making the impossible possible for 60 years now, the Minister of the Interior Mr. Ambrose Dery charged the Service to find solutions to any criticism they face.
Then came the laying of the special coin, the first was laid by the Minister of Interior on behalf of all Ghanaians.
The 2nd to all Firefighters, then to all senior Firefighters who died in line of duty. The fourth for all departed chief fire officers and then for all junior officers.
The remembrance service was themed recognizing the sacrifices of Firefighters’ and our Fallen Heroes”.
As part of the day, the 60th anniversary logo was unveiled. The theme for the anniversary is ”60 years of existence: The role of the Ghana National Fire Service in National Development.”
