GNFS swiftly contain Kissiman junction slum blaze in Accra

A fire broke out at a Kissiman Junction slum near Achimota-Samodak, tragically claiming the life of a four-month-old baby.

Firefighters from the Legon and Abelempke Fire Stations responded swiftly, with the first team arriving at 0424 hours, just 12 minutes after receiving the distress fire call at 0412 hours.

They worked diligently to contain the blaze, preventing further spread to nearby buildings, including a warehouse. Despite their efforts, over 20 wooden structures used for residential purposes were destroyed, along with their contents.

Firefighters continue to work on extinguishing the fire completely, with overhauling underway. The charred body of the baby has been handed over to the Police for further investigation, while the GNFS investigates the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate fire. The blaze was brought under control at 0502 hours.
