Government has secured about fifty-one thousand acres of land to ease access to land acquisition for affordable housing projects. Part of the land world be made available to Private Sector Developers that partner the government to ensure they are also able to provide affordable houses to Ghanaians.
Minister of Works and Housing Kojo Oppong Nkrumah made this known when he took his turn at the ‘Meet the Press’ Series in Accra.
He noted that a major challenge confronting the housing sector is acquisition of land and is hopeful the government’s intervention to secure the land would curb the situation.
He said acquisition of decent households is a right of Ghanaians which the government does not take for granted.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah stated that under that Bungalow Redevelopment Programme’, about 609 housing units would be made available to public sector Workers by October 2024.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah also spoke about the National Rental Assistance Scheme which he said would be expanded to cover the entire country in 2025.
