The Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced that the country is currently experiencing intermittent power outages due to an ongoing challenge at the Ghana National Gas Limited Company’s (GNGC) Gas Processing Plant (GPP) in Atuabo.
According to the companies, the disruption in gas supply for power generation has caused certain areas across Ghana to experience interruptions in electricity supply. The affected public is being assured that efforts are underway to resolve the issue.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this challenge,” a statement released by GRIDCo and ECG said.
The statement explained that the engineers from GNGC are working around the clock to address the fault and restore the full gas supply needed to generate adequate power.
The companies did not provide a specific timeline for the complete resolution of the issue but pledged to update the public as the situation progresses.
This development follows concerns raised by citizens over the sudden outages, often referred to locally as “dumsor,” a term used to describe erratic power supply.
GRIDCo and ECG have urged the public to be patient as technical teams continue their efforts to bring the situation under control.
