Outgoing Chief of Defense Staff Vice Admiral Seth Amoama has described his journey in the military as a difficult but remarkable one. A guard of honour was held on Tuesday by the various security services for the Chief of Defense Staff who will be retiring in a few days.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama said that during his tenure as CDS, he enjoyed maximum cooperation and collaboration with heads of other security services, despite isolated incidents that were resolved amicably. “I first of all want to give glory and thanks to the Almighty God for seeing me through this long and difficult but quite remarkable journey of over four decades and seeing me through a successful end. I also want to thank His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President, and the commander in chief of the Ghana Armed Forces for the confidence and trust he reposed in me in appointing me as the chief of Defense staff three years ago to lead the Ghana Armed Force.”

“I again want to thank the IGP, especially for organising this ceremony, which, is one of its kind in the history of security services, and thank all the heads of the security agencies and everyone for gracing this ceremony.”

“And as I end my service, I will employ all of you to extend the same cooperation to my successor, Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah, who is taking over from me. I have every confidence in his astute transformational leadership.

In a welcome remark by the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Akuffo Dampare, he appreciated the chief of Defense Staff for his good collaboration and how he has been a true brother.

“On the note of the police service, my colleagues at the liberty block and all the ranks and file at all the commands across the country, we want to appreciate you, big bro, for a wonderful service and a wonderful collaboration that has existed between us our two institutions, which has made Ghana to continue to be at peace with itself. I also know that same collaboration was extended to the other security agencies.”
