From the Northern Region, our correspondent Joyce Kantam Kolamong, reports that hundreds of Muslims converged on the Jubilee Park to observe this year’s Eid-ul-Adha, a significant Islamic festival celebrated worldwide.

Eid-ul-Adha honors the story of Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.

Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul-Salam Ahmed, led the prayers and urged the Muslim community to uphold Islamic values. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, especially among the youth, in the lead-up to the elections.

The Chief Imam pledged to use his platform to preach peace before, during, and after the elections.

Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, highlighted the devastating impact of conflict on lives, property, and infrastructure.

He expressed concern that some individuals may seek to provoke conflict in the lead-up to Election 2024 and advised them to reconsider their actions.

The Government, he assured, will remain resolute in defending the country’s freedom and development.

The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of peace, unity, and adherence to Islamic principles.
