Leadership of the Industrial and Commercial Worker Union,  ICU-Ghana, has asked unions and management to prioritize the sustainability and profitability of businesses. The social partners therefore need to always exhibit sacrifice, commitment and collaboration in their engagement..

This was stated in the address of the ICU General Secretary, Morgan Ayawine at the opening of the union’s regional conferences in six regions.

The conferences are preceding the unions 12th Quadrennial Delegate Conference scheduled for August, this year. Mr. Ayawine addressed the Regional Delegates in the Bono-Ahafo and Ashanti Regions.

The Western and Eastern Regional Conferences were addressed by the ICU Deputy General Secretary in charge of Operations, Emmanuel Benimah. The Deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration, Samuel Ananga, spoke at the Volta and Central Regional Conferences.

The ICU leaders stressed that the collaboration of capital and labour cannot be taken for granted if businesses want to succeed. They therefore warned against misunderstanding and unfair treatment of the workplace, which can undermine the cordial relation expected of unions and management.

The ICU leadership urged all stakeholders to always adhere to the provisions of the Collective Agreement and the labour law to ensure harmonious relations at the workplace to enhance productivity and profitability.
