The people of Obengkrom near Asuansi in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese district of the Central Region have heaved a sigh of relief after the inauguration of a mechanized borehole and a sanitary facility constructed for them by the Church On Purpose in Cape Coast and it partner Kettering Baptist Church Legacy Centre of Maryland, USA.

The people expressed gratitude to the Church and it partner for the gesture saying it been a dream come through.

They are however pleading with NGO’s Corporate bodies, philanthropist and government to assist them with at least a CHPS compound and also help them complete classroom block initiated by themselves for a basic school.

Obengkrom is a small farming community near Asuansi and Asondwee of Abura Asebu Kwaman kese district of the Central Region.

It is a community of about four hundred inhabitants who are predominantly farmers.

The people of this community and other three villages beyond them have cried over the years for basic amenities such as clean water, sanitary facility (toilets), health facility and a school block.

Until now, the people were competing with animals for a water from a stream and responded to nature’s call in a bush, a situation that was dangerous especially for the women.

What makes their plight more worrying is when a child is sick in the night or a pregnant woman is due to be delivered. She has to be carried to a CHPS compound at Asomdwee because vehicles hardly ply the road following it dilapidated nature.

Children in this community commute at least ten kilometers each day to attend school and back at Asomdwee.

The Pastor of the Church On Purpose, Robert Benjamin Arthur and the Mission Director, Kettering Baptist Church in Maryland, USA Heather Chapman, were excitement that God could used them to affect the lives of others positively.

They promised to continue to support Obengkrom anyway possible especially to complete the school block for the children.

Some residents of the community and the head teacher of the school Augustines Yeboah Damptey, were grateful to the benefactors and recounted how life was before the gesture.

The Chief of the town Nana Obengkrom also thanked the church on Purpose and it partner for the facilities and made passionate appeal for a health facility and completion of the self help classroom block.
