The Jasikan District Assembly is set to have its first inaugural meeting in November this year 2022, following its elevation to a Municipal status.

Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Dan Botwe said the Jasikan Municipal Assembly Establishment Instrument 2021, L.I. 2437 came into force in February this year.

He said this when he took his turn before the Government Assurances Committee of Parliament.

The question on the status of the Jasikan District was first raised by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Buem, Kofi Adams in June last year (2021).

Mr. Botwe also told the Committee that 10,000 motor bikes have been given to all two hundred and 61 districts across the country.

Meanwhile, the scheduled appearance of the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson did not come on.

Chairperson of the Committee Patricia Appiagyei said the Minister is still indisposed.
