Lawyer for Daniel Aseidu the man accused of the murder of a former MP for Abuakwa North Constituency Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu has questioned why the Police failed to involve some people in their investigation of the incidence.

Lawyer Yaw Dankwah during cross examination of prosecution witness ASP Augustine Nkrumah who was also part of the investigation team sought to find out why an alleged girlfriend of the late MP who attacked and brutally stabbed him in a hotel room in 2010 was not invited for questioning after the killing of JB Danquah Adu in 2016.

The witness said although the Police investigation team came across that alleged attack, the said woman was not involved in the investigations. Lawyer Dankwa also raised issues with the failure of the Police to treat the wife of the late MP as a suspect following his murder on February 9, 2016.

The Defence Lawyer, Yaw Dankwah described as strange why the wife who sleeps with the husband in the same house but in separate adjoining rooms was not held as a suspect after the man was brutally murdered for a considerable period of time when no one had been arrested in connection with the crime.

Lawyer Dankwah suggested to the witness that because the Police did not consider the wife as a suspect even after she was with the dead man in the house for sometime, the investigation team waited until February 22, 2016 to take a statement from her.

This the Lawyer claimed gave the wife sometime to cook up a story which the witnes had already told the Court was troubling.

ASP Nkrumah responded in the negative and said that it did not take a long time for the suspect to be arrested. He said Asiedu was arrested a day or two after the incidence. The Lawyer further questioned why none of the household of the late former MP including his children and a housemaid who opened the door and had access to the house was not invited by the P5olice for questioning.

Lawyer Dankwah also highlighted comments by MP for Assin Central Kennedy Ohene Agyapong after the murder of JB Danquah Adu. He said the Mr Agyapong  made serious allegations and offered interviews clearly giving an impression that he knew a lot more about the death of JB Danquah Adu.

ASP Nkrumah agreed with the Lawyer. Mr Dankwah further questioned if the investigation team invited Mr Agyapong to which he replied in the negative. The lawyer then sought to find out from the witness if the investigation team found those serious allegations by Mr Agyapong who was also a colleague of the deceased irrelevant. The witness responded that he did not work in isolation. He also said he did not give any recommendation to his superiors to in invite Mr Agyapong in a follow up question. Based on that response, Lawyer Dankwah questioned  the witness if his bosses ignored Mr Agyapong they were scared and worried about what he would say in the witness seat.

ASP Nkrumah however disagreed. Asiedu and  Vincent Bosso are being  tried for their alleged involvement in the death of the  JB Danquah-Adu at his residence at Shiashie in Accra in 2016. Further Coss examination of ASP Nkrumah continues tomorrow March 19, 2024
