Justice of the Court of Appeal, His Lordship Justice Dennis Dominic Adjei, will speak at a public lecture to be organized by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, to commemorate this year’s World Press Freedom Day (WPFD 2023).
The global theme for 2023 WPFD is: “Shaping a future of rights: Freedom of expression as a driver for all other Human Rights.”
However, Justice Adjei, who is also Justice of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights based in Arusha, Tanzania, will address the local theme: “Freedom of expression: A driver for all other human rights for Ghana’s development.”
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the General Secretary of the GJA, Mr. Kofi Yeboah.
“A flag-raising ceremony will follow the public lecture, all of which will take place at the Forecourt of the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra.
The ceremony will be chaired by Mrs. Gifty Affenyi Dadzie, a former President of the GJA and Member of the Council of State.
Ministers of state, Members of Parliament, members of the Diplomatic Corps, media partners, media practitioners, media trainers, and students are expected to attend the ceremony.
A book exhibition, which is a major side attraction for the day, will open at 8 am ahead of the public lecture scheduled to start at 9:30 am.
The book exhibition will display books written by Ghanaian journalists and other authors on the media and other topics that the public may be interested in acquiring.
