In a dramatic turn of events, operatives from the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) attempted to arrest Rev. Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, at his residence. This move has been met with strong opposition from the minority caucus, who claim it is an attempt to intimidate them.

Former Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, addressing the media from Rev. Fordjour’s residence, stated, “When the minority caucus expresses a position on a matter, you don’t go after the spokesperson of the member who spoke on behalf of the minority. Even if the person is a whistleblower, you are barred by law from intimidating that person.”

Oppong Nkrumah further emphasized, “Constitutionally, you can’t just pick up a Member of Parliament with about 20 gun-bearing men in masks and hoodies. The minority has a right to raise issues and exercise oversight duties.”

Rev. Fordjour had previously alleged that two aircraft landing in Ghana were involved in money laundering and illicit drug trafficking, prompting calls for an investigation.

However, the government has refuted these claims, citing minor technical faults and legitimate reasons for the aircraft’s landing
