The National Service Authority has officially confirmed that starting August 3, 2025, all National Service Personnel (NSP) across the country will undergo up to two months of basic military training as part of a new initiative introduced by the National Service Authority (NSA).
The training, which falls under the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP), was confirmed following a meeting between the NSA and the Military High Command.
The programme is in line with President John Dramani Mahama ’s vision to instill discipline, patriotism, and physical fitness in the nation’s youth, a policy he outlined in his maiden State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025.
Director-General of the NSA, Mr. Felix Gyamfi, described the initiative as a crucial step toward youth reorientation and national development.
“The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all and sundry as one of the indicators for resetting the country, particularly the youth,” he stated.
Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, who represented the Military High Command at the meeting, assured the NSA of the military’s preparedness to deliver the necessary training when the programme officially begins.
The NSERRP aims to equip service personnel with discipline and readiness to support national development efforts, complementing their year-long mandatory service.
