National Chief Imam prays for Ghana as new year draws nigh

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu today joined Muslims in Kumasi for a special end-of-year Quran recitation and prayer session for the country and the West Africa sub-region. As the year draws to a close, Muslims in Ghana gather to invoke divine blessings for the nation through the Annual Quran Recitation for Ghana.

This year’s event, organized by a Presidential Staffer, Alhaji Ali Suraj, marked a significant occasion for seeking divine guidance and strengthening the bonds of unity.

The special ceremony, held at the Central Mosque after Jummah prayers, had the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and the Emir of Gombe State in Nigeria, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar in attendance, alongside top Islamic scholars.

After the congregational Jummah prayers, worshipers converged at the forecourt of the Central Mosque for the special intercession.

The entire Qur’an was recited by scholars, and after that, special prayers were said for the country, its leadership as well as the West Africa sub-region.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of New Edubiase, Nana Guahyia Oduropanin Birikorang who represented Asantehene urged politicians to engage in ethical campaigns ahead of next year’s general elections to enhance Ghana’s democratic credentials.

The Emir of Gombe State in Nigeria, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, was full of praise for the credential of Ghana being an oasis of peace in the West Africa sub-region. He urged his fellow Muslims to continue to cherish the peace Ghana has by continuously coexisting peacefully with community members of different beliefs.

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu prayed for the leadership of the country, the continent, and the people of Ghana.

He urged all to pray for the country’s leadership because when God guides them well to lead, the people benefit.
