The National Media Commission (NMC) has reaffirmed the renewal of Prof. Amin Alhassan’s appointment as the Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
In a letter dated March 25, 2025, and signed by its Executive Secretary, George Sarpong to the Board Chairman of GBC, the NMC stated that the decision to renew Prof. Amin Alhassan’s tenure was made earlier, declared on February 26, 2024 and publicly announced during the introduction of GBC’s new Board on August 13, 2024.
However, the Commission acknowledged that recent media reports suggest that some GBC employees remain unaware of the renewal. Addressing this, the NMC urged Board Chairman to take immediate steps to inform all staff of the development.
“We shall be grateful if you could take steps to inform all staff of the Corporation. Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. You may also direct any person or group of persons who require any further information on this issue to contact us,” the letter read.
The Commission expressed confidence in the ongoing progress at GBC, attributing it to the strategic leadership of the Board, the ingenuity of management, and the dedication of staff.
“It is our hope that the impressive progress at GBC achieved in recent years through the foresight of the Board, the ingenuity of management, and the hard work of staff would be sustained,” the NMC added.
