Samuel Sarfo Duku, the lawyer for Asante Kotoko, has announced that the police have identified a suspect named Brimah in the stabbing to death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as Nana Pooley. The incident occurred on February 2, 2025, after a Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC at Nana Koronamansah Park.
During a press briefing following court proceedings on February 17, 2025, Duku confirmed that Brimah is currently at large but has been named as the primary suspect in Pooley’s death. According to police documents referred to by Duku, all individuals who have been detained in connection with the case have acknowledged that Brimah was the one who fatally stabbed Pooley.
“Now it means that one person is still at large; he’s called Brimah. The police, per their facts, said that he actually stabbed the deceased person to death,” Duku stated.
The untimely death of Pooley has ignited calls for justice, with fans and community members urging law enforcement to intensify their efforts to locate Brimah and ensure he faces the consequences of his actions. The incident raises serious questions about fan safety at sporting events, emphasizing the importance of effective security protocols.
