Police arrest 25 persons for attacking officers at Kwahu Bepong

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 25 persons in connection with an attack on Police officers and the destruction of some properties at Kwahu Bepong in the Eastern Region.

Residents allegedly attacked the chief’s palace, vandalising vehicles and other properties within the palace. They also attacked police officers, vandalising their vehicles and some motorbikes.

Police were summoned to reestablish order after certain residents opted to take matters into their own hands to confront an alleged murder suspect.

Expressing dissatisfaction with police intervention, residents reportedly threw stones at the officers and vandalised their motorcycles.

The Police, in a statement, said reinforcement team working with the local police has restored calm, and things have been normalised while efforts are ongoing to get the other suspects arrested to face justice.
