Ghana’s President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a 19-member taskforce to see to the implementation of the promises made by President Mahama during the 2024 presidential election.

The 19-member task force is dedicated to fulfilling President Mahama’s 120-day social contract as it is outlined in the 26-page contract.

These promises include key economic reforms, governance standards, and social interventions.

Among the prominent initiatives are the scrapping of controversial taxes such as the E-Levy, and Betting Tax, conducting audits into high-profile corruption scandals, and the constitution of the leanest and most efficient government under the Fourth Republic within the first 120 days of his administration.

Speaking during the inauguration, President Mahama stressed the importance of delivering tangible results.

“All of you are supposed to focus on your sectors and work so that we achieve all the targets that we set ourselves in the 120-day plan.

The senior presidential adviser on governmental affairs is the chair and leading that effort. So, you have to work closely with her so that we can make sure that we are faithful to the mandate that the people of Ghana gave us.

The Minister of Education, who was among the earliest to be sworn in, has already moved quite fast with the issue of the national educational review. And so for those of you who were sworn in later, look into your sector ministries and the promises that we made, and then work as quickly as possible with the senior presidential adviser on governmental affairs to be able to achieve the targets we’ve set ourselves,” Prez. Mahama noted

The Chairperson of the Task Force, Dr Valerie Sawyerr, expressed the Taskforce’s commitment to the successful implementation of the 120-day social contract.

She further warned members that anyone who stands as an impediment to the progress of the team will face consequences.

“By the honour you have bestowed upon us and the confidence you have reposed in us, we know how seriously you take your promises to the people of Ghana. Each promise is made with deep thinking, painstaking calculation, and consideration of various permutations to ensure they are viable, doable, and sustainable. We know your word is your bond and woe betide anyone who stands in the way of the performance of your promises to the people of Ghana.

So therefore, we pledge to use our utmost endeavours to ensure that we perform the mandates that you have given us. We will not fail you. We will not fail the people of Ghana, and God be our helper,” Dr Sawyerr retorted.
