The reconstruction of the Sunyani-Techiman-Wenchi-Wa-Hamile road corridor is set to commence in the third quarter of this year as part of the government’s “Big Push” initiative, according to Hon. Kwame Agbodza, the Minister for Roads and Highways.

In preparation for the work, the Minister has instructed the Ghana Highways Authority to conduct engineering studies and designs for the sections of the corridor that are not yet under construction.
“This entire corridor, all the way to Hamile, is part of the ‘Big Push’ initiative, which we plan to award in June this year. It’s crucial that those involved in the studies and designs expedite their work as time is limited,” Hon. Agbodza emphasized.
He made these remarks in Sunyani this morning at the start of a three-day inspection tour of road projects in the Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, and Western Regions.
The Minister highlighted the government’s recognition of the vital role road infrastructure plays in national development. He stressed that road development remains a priority, despite the country’s financial challenges.

“Roads are critical to achieving progress in agriculture, education, and healthcare. Our economy cannot grow without addressing the challenges in the road sector,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Hon. Agbodza and a team of engineers inspected the 10.2km Terchire bypass on the Kumasi-Sunyani Highway, a project constructed by Newmont Ghana.

During the tour, Hon. Agbodza is also expected to inspect several ongoing road projects, including the reconstruction of the Jinijini-Sampa Road, the Tepa-Goso Road, the Sefwi Wiawso town roads, the Tarkwa-Agona Nkwanta road, the PTC Interchange project, and the dualization of the Takoradi-Agona Junction Road.
