The Power of Zeal
In his Sunday Pulpit Series sermon, Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi explores the power of zeal—a passionate commitment that fuels action and perseverance in service to God. Drawing from Scripture, he highlights how zeal is not just necessary in spiritual matters but also in everyday life, including the corporate world. While zeal can lead to transformation and success, it must be guided by knowledge and wisdom to avoid destructive consequences.
Zeal in Action: Jesus Cleansing the Temple
Using the example of Jesus cleansing the temple (John 2:13-17), Rev. Ampiah-Kwofi emphasizes that while many saw the corruption in the temple, only Jesus acted—driven by zeal for God’s house. Similarly, in the corporate world, many see inefficiencies, unethical practices, and injustices, but few take the bold step to challenge the status quo. True leaders and innovators are those whose zeal compels them to act, bringing about meaningful change.
The Danger of Misguided Zeal
However, zeal alone is not enough. The sermon warns that misplaced zeal, like that of Saul before his conversion (Galatians 1:13-14), can be dangerous. In the workplace, passion without wisdom can lead to reckless decisions, conflicts, and unintended harm. Paul later realized that zeal must be rooted in knowledge and the right purpose (Romans 10:1-2).
Zeal as a Catalyst for Growth and Transformation
Zeal is also essential for personal growth and transformation. Just as Christ urged the lukewarm Laodicean church to be zealous and repent (Revelation 3:19), professionals and business leaders must cultivate a disciplined, purposeful zeal to overcome stagnation, complacency, and ethical compromises. Whether in faith, business, or personal development, zeal must be aligned with integrity, strategy, and divine guidance to produce lasting impact.
A Call to Purposeful Zeal
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi advises that, as you go about your day—whether in church, at work, or in leadership—your zeal should be both passionate and purposeful. Let it drive you to act where others hesitate, innovate where others conform, and lead with both conviction and wisdom.
