The Traditional authorities and People of Twifo Traditional area of the Central Region, have vehemently denied rumors making rounds that , the Twifo Omanhene is dead.

According to them, the Twifo Manhene, Obrempong Appiah Nuamah is still alive and discharging his  responsibility , roles and authority as the over lord of Twifo traditional area.

At a Media engagement organized at Twifo Mampong, the paramount Queen Mother of the area, Nana Abena Antwiwaa the second therefore called on citizens of Twifo, both in and out of the country to   disregard any such rumours.

Twifo Traditional Area and Hemang Traditional Area are two seperate areas that share common boundary.

The name of the Twifo Omanhen is Obrempong Appiah Nuamah, whiles that of Hemang is Otumfuo Amoa-Sasreko.

Otumfuo Amoa-Sasreko III of Hemang joined his ancestors some few years ago and yet to be buried.

According to the authorities of Twifo traditional area, the  unfortunate rumour follows the impending funeral rites of the late Omanhene of Hemang, Otumfuo Amoa-Sasreko III which is expected to come off this month.

The  misrepresentation on the late Hemang Manhene’s banners and posters as Twifo Manhene is creating a lot of confusion among the people, since he is was not the  Omanhene of Twifo but rather “Hemang”.

Nana Abena Antwiwaa explained that “there is only one Twifo Manhene, who is Obrempong Appiah Nuamah, and he is very much alive”.

She further noted that, efforts are being made to get the traditional authorities of Hemang, to make the necessary changes to their banners and posters which are all over the area.

She therefore called on the sons and daughters of the traditional area, who are worried and keep calling to disregard such rumour.

Giving some history of the area, the Twifo Kontihemaa, Nana Abena Amoanimaa III, explained that Twifo Traditional area has over 30 major towns and communities making the area.

She further noted that,  Hemang was once a  town under Twifo Traditional area, before deciding to be on their own as a paramountcy.

They went with the name, Hemang Traditional area with only about three towns, till now, yet the Twifo people allowed them to go,  for the sake of peace.

She noted that the area has always been refferred to as Hemang Traditional area.

She wondered why their paramount chief will die and would be referred to now as “Twifo Manhen” instead of “Hemang Manhen”

The Omanhene himself, Obrempong Appiah Nuamah in an interview, described what is happening in the area as unfortunate and added his voice to calls on his people to remain calm whiles the misunderstanding is being dealt with.

He noted that, Hemang was once under Twifo before deciding to leave to form their own traditional area.

Despite the move, the late Omanhene, Otumfuo Amoa-Sasreko III was a brother and a good friend to him until his demise.

He however noted that his successor, Otumfuor Amoa-Sasreko IV, seems to be the one trying to bring the rift between the two traditional areas.
