Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago will converge in London for a thrilling Unity Cup 2025 tournament which is set to kick off on Tuesday, May 27, with the tournament celebrating the best of African and Caribbean football.
The event, branded as “The Best in the West, the Afro Classico Contest,” promises to deliver high-stakes semi-finals, fierce regional rivalries, and top-class football.
The tournament will open with the TriniJam Derby, where Trinidad & Tobago will take on Jamaica in their first-ever meeting on UK soil. The following day, May 28, West African giants Nigeria and Ghana will renew their historic rivalry in a match that promises fireworks.
The competition will conclude on Saturday, May 31, with a double-header, one game to decide third place, followed by the grand final to determine the Unity Cup 2025 champions.
Two-time champions Nigeria may start as favorites based on FIFA rankings and recent form, but Ghana will be looking at stopping them at in England when they meet on May 28, 2025. Meanwhile, Jamaica will be looking for revenge after suffering a narrow defeat in their previous appearance. The Unity Cup 2025 promises to be an unmissable spectacle, with deep-rooted rivalries, top-class football, and a celebration of African and Caribbean football culture.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Rotimi Pedro, CEO of AfroSport, expressed his excitement about reviving the event: “The Unity Cup is back! It has been a long road to revive this important community event, and we are happy that fans of African and Caribbean football will get to see international football of the highest caliber at The Unity Cup 2025.”
