From EP Church Abeka polling station and Church of Christ polling station in the Okaikwei North Constituency in Accra, electorates trickled in to cast their votes for their preferred Assembly and Unit Committee Members.

At the opening of the polls at 8:30, less than 10 people were available at the EP Church polling station to vote and had queued awaiting electoral officers.

Out of the 1644 voters expected to turn up, the Presiding Officer, who declined to give her name, said that ”the people are turning up small small”, but was hopeful that more people would cast their votes before voting closed at 5:00 p.m.

Aside from the 2-hour delay due to the late arrival of materials, the process was smooth except for a few people, including a pregnant woman who tried several times before she was verified by the biometric device.

From the Church of Christ Abeka 2 Polling Station in Accra, out of the 365 voters expected to turn out, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 20 persons had voted.

According to Mark Obrey, the Presiding Officer (PO), no challenges had been encountered.

”It’s still morning, so we are still expecting people to turn up and vote,” he noted.

Similarly, the voting process is going smoothly, but with a low turnout at these two polling stations.

Voting is, however, going on peacefully in these two polling stations, as there are security personnel present at all the polling stations visited.
