Eleven (11) persons including some National Security officers and a Police Officer have been remanded into custody by the Adenta Circuit Court for robbery and kidnapping. They are facing three Counts of conspiracy, robbery and kidnapping.

The Prosecutor Superintendent Richard Boateng told the court that one of the accused persons, Frederick Ahialey, is a friend of the victim and at a point in time even shared a room. The two friends are alleged to be engaged in internet fraud and reportedly had a misunderstanding over the sharing of money from their alleged fraudulent activity.

Ahialey is said to have cheated and engaged one Michael currently at large to use any means to retrieve an unspecified amount of money from the victim.

Superintendent Boateng said last November 18, at about 9:30pm, Ahialey together with Michael engaged the other ten accused persons to attack the victim to retrieve some money.

The accused persons allegedly grouped themselves into two and hired two taxis which conveyed them to the victim’s house at Pantang around 11:30pm.

They allegedly attacked the victim who was then with a friend and collected 37,000 cedis from him.

Not satisfied with the amount,  the accused persons are alleged to have bundled the victim into one of the taxis, brought him to Circle and compelled him to redraw four thousand cedis from his mobile money wallet.

The Prosecutor said the accused persons later sent the victim to the National Security office at Osu in Accra, but was rejected.

Some witnesses lodged a complaint with the Adenta Police who arrested six of the accused persons at Pantang. The others were arrested by the Ministries Police where they had finally sent the victim to.

The  accused persons will reappear in Court on  November 24, 2022.
