About 12 million dollars worth of government subsidized fertilizer, was smuggled out of the country last year.

The fertilizers which were to be given to farmers under government’s flagship programme ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ were mostly sneaked out of the country through border towns in the northern part of the country.

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, said this in an interaction with the General Officer of the Northern Army Command and other high ranking officials of the Northern Command in his office at Wa.

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih called on the military to use their presence in the region, particularly the Sissala areas to help curtail the smuggling of fertilizers.
