The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has published a list of 137 markets that will be closed Monday, March 23 for disinfection as part of measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in Accra.
The Ministry in a statement said the closure of the markets follow a Presidential directive that it coordinates with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, MMDAs to enhance the conditions of hygiene in markets across the country.
In an interview with the GBC, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama said the fumigation will be extended to other regions, also hand-washing facilities will be provided at all public places.
All markets are expected reopen for business Tuesday, March 24.
