La Dadekotopo MP celebrates Christmas with elderly

By Edzorna Francis Mensah

The Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has celebrated this years’ Christmas with about one thousand (1000) Aged in her Constituency.

The MP who described the aged as “wonderful men and women” took a tour of all the sixteen (16) zones of the ten (10) electoral areas of the Constituency to present them with Bags of Rice, Cooking Oil, Canned Fish, and Non- Alcoholic Beverages.

The Act was in remembrance of the act of giving and the ”birth of Jesus Christ”.

During the presentation, the MP used the occasion to admonish people to take good care of their parents when they grow old…, ”taking care of the aged, is something that has been in my mind for so long, for me-we-all-grow old one day”.

She, however, bemoaned the fact that “most of the time, we neglect them, and we wait for them to die, for us to attend their funerals with new clothes, cook good food, while we have neglected them when they are with us”.

According to her, it has been her dream to help, when she has and “in years past, I have been celebrating them through get-togethers and all that but this time around, I have decided to give them fresh food, so that they can cook”.

Madam Sowah linked her gesture to the Bible and maintained that “for god so loved the world that he gave Jesus Christ to us to cleanse us from our sins and to make us happy, so if we are remembering the birth of Christ, it is time to give, it is time for us to share the love God shares with us through only his begotten son, so I’m also sharing the same love with the aged in my Constituency”.
