Police commend people of Wassa Appiahkrom & Ayiem, whose vigilance led to arrest of nine robbers

The combined efforts of the Police and members of Wassa Appiahkrom and Ayiem communities has led to the arrest of nine suspects in two robbery attacks on 7th and 8th January at Wassa Akropong and Mpohor in the Western Region.

The suspects attacked their victims with an array of weapons, including locally manufactured pistols, cutlasses, and a dagger. They bolted from the crime scenes with various items including a motorbike, mobile phones and a cash amount of GHC 2,700.00

Suspects Godwin Boah, Philemon Essien, Emmanuel Yaley, Mohammed Sumaila, Evans Amarh, Patrick Aboah, Augustine Nana Abaka, Kwabena Acquah and Godfred Akwah are currently in Police custody.

Suspect Philemon Essien who sustained a gunshot wound on his hand and suspect Emmanuel Yaley who sustained injuries were sent to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital where they are receiving treatment under Police guard.

Among items retrieved from the suspects was an Opel taxi which had been impounded for further investigation.

The Police are on the lookout for two other suspects who managed to escape. The Police has commended the Community members of Wassa Appiahkrom and Ayiem for supporting them in effecting the arrests.

It also commended Personnel of the Western Regional Command for their patriotic services towards ensuring peace and security in the region.
