The birth of a child comes with so much joy after a nine month period of uncertainty. When this day also falls on Christmas Day, the joy is doubled.
In the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, twenty-five mothers who were delivered of their babies on Christmas Day also received hampers from the Western Regional office of MTN Ghana.
The hampers contained diapers, towels, baby lotion, cream and powder, wet wipes.
This year, the hampers also contained sanitizers and nose masks to drum home the need for the mothers to adhere to the safety protocols of Covid-19.
The Corporate Services Advisor for MTN, Southern Ghana, Kennedy Ofosohene, said the move which has over the years become an annual event forms part of the company’s social responsibilities of supporting the well-being of Ghanaians.
The Deputy Administrator at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, Priscilla Naa Norley Armah, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the gesture explaining that for some of the mothers, the presentation has come as a relief since all items in the hamper are necessities for the postnatal period.
She also advised the mothers to regularly wash their hands with soap under running water, use sanitizers and practice and live under strict hygiene rules to protect themselves and the babies who are susceptible to all forms of infectious diseases especially in the wake of Covid-19.
The beneficiaries, most of whom were well enough and due for discharge thanked MTN, saying it was a big surprise to them.
