Thirty Ambulances procured in 2016 by the Ministry of Health for the National Ambulance Service have been left at the mercy of the weather to deteriorate at the Air Force Base, Burma camp.
The abandoned ambulances are also attracting a monthly ground rent of GH¢1,500.
This was disclosed in the 2018 Auditor General’s report.
The Auditor General indicated that the manner in which the Ambulances have been handled has caused government to engage in wasteful expenditure due to abandonment.
However, a response by management of the National Ambulance Service said the 30 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Ambulances were part of the 200 to be procured but were found not to conform to specifications and that the issue is being handled by the Ministry of Health.
