Residents of Akorwu-Bana in the Yilo-Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region have made a passionate appeal to the Government through the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly to as a matter of urgency complete and inaugurate a 90 percent completed CHPS compound to enhance health care delivery in the area.

The CHPS compound which is 90 percent complete has been abandoned for the past seven years.

The project which was commenced under the erstwhile John Mahama administration has been left to the mercy of the weather.

The CHPS facility is left with electricity, septic tank, washroom and logistics for staff to commence its operation.

The abandoned facility is creating inconvenience to the people of the community and its environs. The CHPS compound has an accommodation for nurses and resident medical officer.

GBC News has reported twice on the issue yet the Municipal Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo have turned deaf ears to the issue.

The Municipal Assembly is not showing any sign of completing the facility to enhance healthcare delivery which is posing a huge health challenge to the inhabitants.

The inhabitants said they really do not understand why the MCE, Eric Tetteh and the Member of Parliament, MP, Albert Tetteh Nyarkotey are not putting in any effort to complete and operationalized the facility.

They are also surprised that the Jubilee House has also not shown any interest in completing the facility to promote healthcare delivery in the area.

In an interview with GBC News, a resident, Samuel Kwasi Nartey, reiterated that the absence of health facility in the community has caused a lot of death.

He noted that when a community member is sick, they have to carry the person on motorbike to the next community to have access to vehicle before the person is transported to either Klo-Agogo Clinic for minor cases or to the

Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for major cases since their road is also in a deplorable state which makes it difficult for vehicles to ply.

The community members are also pleading with the government, NGOs, and philanthropists to help construct the road leading to the town since it is in a deplorable state.
