A 26-year old unemployed man in Kumasi has allegedly committed suicide by hanging. The deceased, Teddy Kwaku Mensah, alias Paapa was found hanging by a nylon bathing sponge in the family house, at North Suntreso, a suburb of Kumasi.
He was reported to have earlier parted company with friends late Saturday evening.
His motive for committing suicide is unknown, but neighbours say he lost a gamble hour before the suicide.
There are also speculations that a possible misunderstanding between the deceased and a lady he was co-habiting with, could be the cause for his action.
The deceased reportedly set personal things of the lady on fire, the day before he took his life.
When Radio Ghana visited the crime scene, neighbors, relatives and sympathizers were seen in groups discussing the incident.
Personnel from the Sofoline Police Station have since retrieved the body. The Police are investigating the cause of the suicide.
The Assembly Member for North Suntreso Electoral Area, Agrippa Opoku, told Correspondent Nicholas Osei-Wusu, that the incident could have been averted if the deceased had shared his problems with anyone he trusted.
He used the opportunity to advise the youth in particular, to learn to confide in others with their problems for solutions.
