Accra: 116 suspected criminals rounded up in Police swoop

At least 116 suspected criminals were rounded up in a Police swoop at dawn in various parts of Accra.

The suspects including a female are between the ages of 18 and 60, were grabbed at James Towm, Tesano, Odorkor and Baatsona.

The Police found on them dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, a television set, one laptop computer and eight mobile phones, all suspected to have been stolen.

The suspects are in Police custody assisting in investigation.

Greater Regional Police Commander DCOP, Afful Boakye Yiadom, who disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times, said the exercise formed part of Police strategy to flush out criminals from their hideouts and to create an enabling environment for the public.

He said the dawn swoop on Thursday (September 3) rounded up at various notorious drug peddlers at spots and places noted for criminal activities.
