The contempt case involving the Inspector General of police (IGP) David Asante Apeatu and the Director General of CID, Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah has been adjourned as a result of their absence in court yesterday (July 3).

A letter to court indicated that both the IGP and CID Boss have traveled outside the country and will be back on the 16th of this month.

The two were in court to face charges of contempt following the disregard of a court order in March this year to grant bail to Gregory Afoko, the suspected murderer of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama.

The judge was expected to rule on whether the inaction of the two security chiefs was contempt of court.

The court presided over by Justice Jennifer Doodo adjourned to the 22nd of this month for the IGP and CID boss to be present in person.
